A Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) ensures that messages or documents genuinely originate from the stated sender and have not been altered during transmission (integrity and authenticity).

However, from a tax perspective, the use of a qualified electronic signature has no longer been mandatory for electronic invoicing since July 2011. Since then, electronic invoices and paper invoices have been treated as legally equivalent.
