Peppol
Pan-European Public Procurement OnLine (Peppol) is an international initiative aimed at promoting the standardization of cross-border, electronically supported public procurement processes within the European Union and beyond.
To achieve this, Peppol provides technical specifications and standards for the exchange of electronic business documents, such as electronic invoices, between companies and public administrations.
The organization also operates a network known as the eDelivery Network, through which companies in Germany and across Europe can send electronic invoices and other documents to public authorities via so-called access points.
This is particularly beneficial for companies that frequently submit invoices to public sector entities. However, operators of access points must be members of the Peppol organization and comply with strict security requirements.
